Hamptons Help Now, Inc.

MISSION STATEMENT

Hamptons Help Now, Inc. is a coalition of human service providers and concerned community members.  Its purpose is to provide information about available services to people experiencing the impact of economic hard times; in addition to creating and implementing new services to help improve the lives of East Hampton residents.

Last December Leonard I. Ackerman, Esq., a prominent East Hampton Resident contacted the East Hampton Department of Human Services to discuss the challenges that many in our community were experiencing during this economic downturn.  It was agreed that a coordinated town wide effort was needed to address those in need of assistance.  As a result of that meeting, Hamptons Help Now, Inc. was formed.

Hamptons Help Now, Inc. a non-profit organization, is a coalition of community leaders, government officials, and public and private providers of services to the East Hampton community.

Hamptons Help Now Inc. is in the process of implementing various collaborative initiatives to benefit local people and families.  The first step was gathering information regarding services offered by local providers.  A local provider network list has been developed and is being utilized to advise East Hampton residents of available services.

Hamptons Help Now, Inc. has established a HELP LINE . The toll free number is: 1-888-5 HELP NOW (1-888-5-435-7669)

INFORMATION is provided about services available to East Hampton residents including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Health Care and Health Insurance

  • Prescription Help

  • Financial Assistance

  • Housing Problems

  • Food Pantries

  • Legal Services

It is the goal of the organization to increase the number of hours that we will be able to provide information via the Help Line.  More volunteers are needed in order to extend service.  Volunteers can request an application by calling the East Hampton Department of Human Services at 329-6939.

Help Line volunteers will be trained and supervised by volunteer professional social workers. Volunteers are also needed for the Soup Kitchen, Jobs and Public Relations Committees.

Hamptons Help Now Inc. held a Community Soup Dinner on March 25th, 2009 at Most Holy Trinity Church.  The theme of the evening was ‘No One Should Go Hungry’.

All in attendance shared a free hot meal and connected as a community.  It was a first step and displayed to those in need that members of their community cared. More of these events are scheduled for the fall.
